Which procedures are right for me?Which procedures can improve the appearance of your smile is something that can be discussed during a consultation appointment with Dr. Joseph Narde of Willow Point Dental. We work with our patients to develop a treatment plan that may include a variety of services to achieve a full mouth rehabilitation or a “smile makeover.” Patients can choose to have all the procedures done at once, or work one at a time over several months to achieve the smile of their dreams with the help of our dental team.
Why might I choose cosmetic procedures? It is common for patients to have imperfections in their smiles. These imperfections may be caused by genetics (dull, yellowed teeth or misaligned teeth) or due to trauma, including chipped, broken, or lost teeth. When patients are faced with these issues, they are encouraged to speak to a cosmetic dentist to find out what methods are available for treatment. Patients can explain the areas of concern they want to address, and our team may suggest solutions. For example, patients who have imperfections on a tooth near the front of the mouth may be advised to consider composite resin bonding for coverage or even a porcelain veneer. Misaligned teeth may be improved in this same manner, or with the use of orthodontic (ClearCorrect) treatments. Missing teeth may be replaced using implants, bridges, or dentures. When patients have choices available to them, our professionals will educate them on the advantages and disadvantages of each, allowing the patient to make knowledgeable choices regarding how to fix them.
What is the difference between full and partial dentures ?Partial dentures are dentures that are made from an acrylic and metal framework to snap into place using the existing teeth within the arch to hold the restoration in place. This restoration includes a false tooth that slides into the gap to restore appearance and functionality. Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of teeth. They are fabricated from acrylic materials and include false gum tissue to look completely natural when placed into the smile. Full dentures and partial dentures are both available for our patients seeking tooth replacement at Willow Point Dental.
What methods of teeth whitening are available and how does professional whitening compare to over-the-counter solutions? It is common to walk down the oral health aisle at the local drugstore and see many different varieties of teeth bleaching products including trays, strips, and whitening toothpastes. However, many of these are made with weak formulations and provide little, if any, results. Our team encourages patients to ask about professional whitening treatments, which are stronger. The results can be achieved faster and last longer when patients consider using professional-strength bleaching solutions instead of those available at the local drugstores. Professional whitening is a wise investment.
